Modern Day Partners

20 January 2015 By In Relationship Advice

Are women in modern society moving toward same sex flatmates as the new life partner? Not lesbian lovers, but is living with your best friend and sharing the chores, clothes, and life decisions with them the new norm? These days it seems that 'finding a man' doesn't have the same urgency that it used to and women of all ages are more focused on being happy than searching for the 'right one'.

Companionship

Women know the benefits of companionship from their female friends, and instead of taking the traditional or safe route of marching down the aisle to Mr. Average, they are choosing to rely on their best friends for emotional support. The challenge of course comes when one of the women enters into a relationship. Not only could the new boyfriend be threatened by the living arrangement, but the woman may now compare him as a partner to her girlfriend. Should the relationship result in a proposal and marriage, the single friend will then be forced to find a new flatmate or a new place to live.

For now though, many young women seem to be quite content with building their careers and lives while sharing their living space with their female friends. Choosing to share their lives with a trusted friend and having a built-in support system is a safe and healthy way to cultivate a friendship while playing the field. No longer do women feel the need to rush into a relationship or seek companionship, they can date without the pressure of settling down and take their time finding their Mr. Right. This new trend may just, in fact, see female lifelong 'spouse-mates' become a new way of living.
